A sample of our legal experience:
Certus provided litigation support services for this building performance/construction defect case. The building housed assisted living units, including provision of services for Alzheimer and dementia patients. Alleged soil/structure interaction produced structural distress expressed through floors out-of-level, finish cracking, envelope failure and accessibility compliance issues. Certus provided detailed evaluation of project documentation, on-site conditions, destructive testing, proposed plaintiff scopes of work and cost estimates. Certus worked extensively with Scientific Construction Labs to develop a comprehensive defense scope of repair, which resulted in a favorable settlement for our client. Kevin Moore, Principal was the Defense Disclosed Expert for this matter.
Certus collaborated with Scientific Construction Labs to develop comprehensive structural calculations in support of a repair scope of work for this single-family residence. The plaintiff alleged that the custom-built 3500 square foot home exhibited poor performance related to the inadequate design of structural elements and construction defects. Kevin Moore was the Principal for this matter.
Certus provided litigation support services for this construction defect case. Numerous single family homes exhibited significant envelope failures, alleged as a result of wind loading. Certus performed detailed evaluation/analysis proving that the alleged building behavior was not attributable to the structural design or behavior of certain structural elements or assemblies. This analysis work, combined with extensive evaluation of existing conditions exposed as part of the plaintiff destructive testing, assisted in the development of a favorable settlement for our client. Kevin Moore was the Defense Disclosed Expert for this matter.
Certus provided litigation support services in the form of construction document review and analysis, specifically to determine standard of care related to the construction of a new apartment complex in Southern California. The plaintiff alleged that the structural engineer of record was responsible for construction delays and eventual contract termination related to review times associated with requests for information, submittal review and correspondence. Additional allegations about construction quality were also posed by the plaintiff. The plaintiff withdrew their expert prior to deposition, whereby Certus ceased support services. Kevin Moore was the Defense Disclosed Expert for this matter.
